What I love about snail mail is the connection you get with other people. Writing letters in your own hand leaves a bit of you in the letter whether it be some of your energy or your words. And receiving letters from people is one of the best feelings in the world I think. Just thinking about where the letter has been on its way to you almost makes me want to write a story from the point of view of a letter.

Snailmailing kept my sanity this pandemic because I migrated from Asia to EU amidst the virus and being in a foreign land can be stressful most especially when there are a lot of restrictions and you’re confined to a small place. The language barrier, different food, different weather and those factors triggered my stress. However, I love how crafting for my penpals is so therapeutic for me. I can be in my own world and do whatever my heart desires, noone judges me. Then, I can write about anything to my penpal and they are all support! ??

I enjoy being able to connect to people on a personal level. I feel most people are more open in letters, because they don’t believe they will ever really ‘meet’ their pen pal. So you can have real deep raw conversations and get to really know each other.
