So excited about his first day of school. Here is a cute pic to show his enthusiasm. Has anything that makes you go yay happened in your home this week? 🙂
Books I Am Loving
There are a few books I am currently reading that so far I just adore. They were suggested by the speaker at our monthly homeschool group meeting.
This book is a great read for an older child, mine is almost 8 and like it very much, it teaches kids how to be kind and considerate in an awesome way by filling invisible buckets that we all carry around with good thoughts and feelings.
This little version is great for my 3 1/2 yr old he just love for me to read it to him. These just came in the mail the other day and I am so glad I ordered them.
Have you filled a bucket today?
I think once we are done with them we will gift them forward to someone else who might enj0y them. I am sure I will be posting about these little books again 🙂
Homeschool Friday
Wow this week has been quite a dozie, most of the week my 7 yr old was dragging his feet. Took him almost till 4pm to finish his work on Wednesday. Thursday he did better finished by noon which is great, we did get up earlier on this day. I told him I would be getting him up earlier because if I wait till later in the morning he hits bottom quick. He is one of those kids that needs to get up and running so he can finish early and well just be a kid and play.
We do have to start working on more site words which he absolutely dislike for some reason. I found some worksheet on Enchanted Learning just for site words.
Here is the link Dolch words, it is a really nice link, which we will find very useful. Well I will find it useful, he totally doesn’t look forward to it at all.
I chuckle inside because when we do two digit addition or almost anything related to math, he says “come on mom is that all you got”. Yet when it comes to site words he really clinches. I look forward to the day when site words will have the same response.
I have also ordered Explode the Code 4, as I feel this will be a great supplement to Alphabet Island Reading Program we use.
Well I do hope for mommy’s sanity that next week is a more smooth sailing week, of course with kids on never knows what we will get.
Worst Teacher I Ever Had
Describe the worst teacher you ever had.
The worst teacher I ever had was a math teacher in high school named Mr. Cheng. He was so mean to me, he would pick and make fun of me when I didn’t know the answer to questions in class. I dreaded going to this man’s class day in and day out. Plus he was not a very good teacher, I had a hard time understanding his lessons.
The worst part is I had him for two years straight for math class. As a young student in junior high I guess I should have told my mom and ask for help. I didn’t ask for help from my mom, I just did my best and got through it.
Wonder if this experience is partly to blame for me not doing well in math as I progress through school. I had to work hard on my own and get tutors all through high school and college. I struggled quite a bit with math all my life.
Who was your worst teacher you ever had?
I asked my husband what his worst teach ever was and he said his was Mrs. Louis, she was his teacher in 11th grade and taught him chemistry. He did get his parents to help him and he got changed classes.
